The engineers
at Celerity Automation have developed a new “direct
drive” linear transfer technology that delivers faster
acceleration, higher speeds and pinpoint accuracy, far beyond
the capabilities of conventional technology. Celerity
has already developed several applications of the new technology,
for material handling in the automotive tire industry, and
automated production techniques for a railroad car manufacturer. With
this technology, the possibilities are limitless. In
addition to demanding manufacturing applications, the
$16 billion material handling industry offers unlimited potential
for a technology with the LTV’s adaptability and capacity
to substantially increase productivity. Some of the possible
applications for future LTV development would include conveying,
sortation, elevation changes, staging, overhead cranes and
hoists, order selection by layer, case and item, paperless
management, and
lights-out warehouse operation.
